May 9th, 2010 Icelandic Glacier Crevasse – Contax_G1_095
May 7th, 2010 Blue Lagoon Again – Contax_G1_068
Colors are not exaggerated. The silica and blue algae in the water are responsible for the surreal coloring. This was a small path in front of the blue lagoon spa. This is one of Iceland’s largest geothermal hot springs.
March 7th, 2010 Final Resting Place – bronica_sq-a_115
Let the themes of solitude and abandonment continue…. I took this picture at Mt. Hope memorial gardens while visiting my younger brother’s grave. A literal pictoral representation of the road to the end of you life.
March 7th, 2010 Tributes – bronica_sq-a_117
Some of the older grave decorations at my younger brother’s grave in Livonia, Michigan. I think mother is responsible for this one?
June 12th, 2009 Inagural Midnight Mystery Ride
The season for late night bike rides is upon us. Tonight was the first ride I joined for pedalpalooza 2009 – the midnight mystery ride. The idea is that all cyclists meet up at a location before the ride (at midnight) which then leaves to the secret location. Only a few people leading the group know where it will end up. It’s a great event – riders of all backgrounds and bikes of all types. There were bikes covered in lighting, there were bike sidecars, there were bike boomboxes, there was even a bike grill (propane tank included). A wholly amicable group where socializing is easy and definitely encouraged. Pictured here is a tall bike covered in EL wire that was sound-responsive. Pretty neat.
June 10th, 2009 Savoy For Drinks
Much needed date tonight with the missus. We headed down to Dot’s cafe for a large portion with a small price tag. Afterwards we went across the street to Savoy, which is a wine bar. Everything in there is related to Wisconsin in one way or another, not really sure why. This is too-shallow DOF picture of the jukebox that they had keeping all the patron’s ears happy.
May 23rd, 2009 Camping on Manhattan Beach
Saturday saw a quickly planned camping trip to Manhattan beach on the coast of Oregon with some friends. The beach was unlike anything that I’d ever seen – driftwood as far as the eye could see up the coast, at least 600 feet in width from the coast further back to the dunes. Saying driftwood is a bit misleading as there were whole trees of considerable size interwoven with one another and stuck in the sand. We built this fantastic amphitheater-like structure to shelter our fire from the wicked winds. I have a few more pictures from this visit but I liked this one best – it paints a very bleak and hopeless portrait of a one living forest.

April 28th, 2009 La Boca Sunset

After Trinidad we had made plans to make our way to Playa Ancón to spend a few more days on the beach before our time was up. We took a taxi to this town called La Boca – about 10 minutes west – which was right on the shore. We booked a few nights at this casa particulare which was no more than 200 feet from the beach just right across the street. If people considered Trinidad sleepy, La Boca was in a coma. There was little to do here except sunbathe, swim and grab a few bites of food (at the casa only). Every night we were lucky enough to watch the sun set over the mountains north of the city.
April 26th, 2009 La Cueva

La cueva is a strong runner up for the coolest place I’ve ever been in my life. Here we are in this sleepy but very tranquil Cuban colonial town where the most exciting thing that seems to happen is the opportunity to pull the broom out and sweep the house, yet again. We made our way up this hill past a gorgeous crumbling church and hear this music coming from the entrance to this club. La Cueva is an underground discotheque housed inside a natural limestone cave in the heart of a mountain. This main room/chamber must have been at least 3 to 4 stories tall, packed tight with locals getting their dance on. Just amazing.
