This is Ernesto. He’s a two speed lowrider cruiser that decided to become my friend. I bought this bike on a whim up the street from where I live. Handmade custom bike for $100? Can’t pass that up. The best part is the handlbars which are about 2 feet long. Cruisers are the new fixies.

Just one of those objects in our daily lives that we rarely stop and notice.

There was an unsuccessful adventure to Bagby hot springs. In retrospect, it seemed like the forces were out against us that day. Bad traffic on the way out, late start, queesy stomaches from breakfast and snowy roads. Her car got stuck in the snow on the last leg of the road up there, which was about 5 miles out and turned out to be too formidable to pass. We retreated to this place called the Safari Club, which Katie had been to before. Combine a dive bar with rather trashy patrons and natural history museum and you’ve got Safari Club. Immediately upon entering, you’re greeted by a polar bear standing on his hind legs in a display case. Add to this two tigers fighting, cougars, panthers, african lions, gazelles and deer all propped up in glass showcases all throughout the bar. Too much to describe in a single post. Pictured here is the deer being pounced by a mountain lion.21

Quick to make their getaway, they raced through the sidestreets of southeast PDX and careened the classic convertible into an open garage. Quick to cover their tracks from the sharp eye and long arm of the law, they threw what debris they could find around their getaway car, dusting it with a bag of sawdust hoping no one would take notice. Maybe, maybe not.

This is the one of the first few pictures that I took with my brand new DSLR – a refurbed Canon 40D. I’ve got to say I’m a big fan thus far. Just the way the body feels in the hand is much more comfortable than the XT that I was shooting with. Today I plagued Ellie taking some photos of her while she was painting. We made plans to hang out today and have crafty/hobby time – where we could hang out without spending any money and both work on some things we’ve been meaning to work on. I’d have been working on my watercolor painting but I forgot my ink at home.

I sold my Canon XT earlier this week so I’ve been hard pressed to keep up on photos because I’m not particularly fond of this other samsung point and shoot. It does alright in very bright situations like this scene from Mt.Hood ski bowl above. Many of my friends decided to rent a cabin for the weekend and partake in some skiing and snowboarding, some drinking and some eating. Katie and I got off to a late start and made our way across the street (how nice, right?) to ski bowl. It was very warm and sunny, probably pushing 50 degrees. Snowboarding conditions were less than ideal but it was fun regardless.

There’s always something that catches my eye outside the NELA center, where I tutor physics and math. Everytime I’ve showed up there for the past three weeks there’s always been something I deem interesting to take a photo of. I’m trying to practice with the fixed focal lengths a little bit more, it’ll give me more confidence when using the Bronica. Not much happening at tutoring today except Lucy and I make graffiti on someone’s oversized whiteboard.

Just a picture of a bike that caught my eye as I was walking up to the store. This lighting is pretty close to the natural lighting that was behind said apartment building. I think I may have creeped some guy out as I was wandering around the bushes in his neighbor’s lot setting up the tripod. It’d be hard to discern if I was taking a picture of him or of the bike below him from his perspective.

I’m just about out of things to take pictures of in the house. Thought this light on the basement wall might make a near picture. Heavy processing in Aperture yielded much better results.

Took some photos of the helmet covering the blue light above my bed. It was the last thing I saw before I fell asleep, thought it looked kind of pretty. Spent most of the evening working on some music.
