Spring skies are returning. The palette of blue and amber colors you find in the dusk here in Oregon are quite breathtaking.

Met up with some friends this evening at the Hungry Tiger too. They have dollar PBRs on Wednesday nights and a pretty nice patio, so it’s a good chance to get out and enjoy some good company

Some days I find myself in a bit of a pinch to photograph something interesting. I’m still in the process of training my eyes to find compositionally interesting things. This is a crop of a picture of a house up the street from where I live, heavy on the post-processing. The larger version has some nice symmetry to it, but is kind of a bland picture. Not very exciting. I noticed the house when I was riding by on my bike, thought it would make an interesting picture. Need to look a bit harder some days.

I went out with my good friend Ellie to celebrate our one year anniversary out in Portland. We decided to go get the same meal that we first had when we got here, which was fish and chips and this restaurant called Sloan’s. Best fish and chips ever. Year two here in PDX is going great so far!

Today was a rather uneventful day. I went up to have a few drinks at this local haunt called Plan B which is a short walk from my house. Thus far it’s been the friendliest waitstaff / barstaff that I’ve met here in Portland. I sat outside and wrote in my physical journal about building Styrone, the 2.5 story tall robot made of milk crates.

This is a picture of the crowd gathered at the Hawthorne Hostel for the bike-in event for pedalpalooza, one of the last for 2008. They had some entertainers pacifying the crowd before it got dark enough to show some bike related movies. I ended up leaving early because I was feeling a bit bored and a bit out of place. Compounding this problem is that the photo is pretty uninspired and dull.

This is a shot from last Thursday on Alberta St. in Portland. It’s a big street fair / market where people sell lots of crafts and artwork. It’s really hard to capture the vibrancy and energy of the atmosphere. Someone parked their car perpendicular to the flow of traffic with a big “STOP” sign on the side, making a protest about how the police refuse to close the street down despite the incredible number of people perusing the market. I bought my first piece of artwork from a lady who does the most fantastic portraits I have ever seen.

On my way to the Portland naked ride 2008 my bike tire got caught in a railroad track causing me to flip off and land (apparently) hard on my hand, resulting in a fracture. Yes, I still did the ride despite this. I wouldn’t have missed that for anything, how invigorating.

FOR SPARTA! I made this costume for the “300″ ride on Friday night for pedalpalooza. Turns out I was the only one who dressed up. Ran into two other spartans later on. It was CHILLY wearing this out to the midnight mystery ride afterwards.
